Challenge

The objective of the SOS SAHEL 40 year anniversary celebration was to:

  • Identify and approach new potential partners (private sector, institutional, individuals)
  • Gain visibility
  • Involve the International Advisory Board
  • Present successful projects
  • Celebrate the 40 years anniversary of SOS SAHEL and the Food Security & Nutrition Initiative

Solution

A charity gala on May 24th 2017 at the Pullman Teranga Hotel, in Dakar, gathering more than 250 guests for a major fundraising campaign kickoff. The gala was sponsored by President Abdou Diouf and featured a fashion show by the Senegalese designer Oumou Sy as well as performances by the National Orchestra of Senegal and various famous African artists such as Nayanka Bell, Baaba Mall, Sekouba Bambino and Cheick Tidiane. Additionally, SOS SAHEL’s executives took the opportunity to highlight the success of the Food Security and Nutrition Initiative 2025 which was launched in 2016. They presented these successes in a powerful movie retracing the nonprofit’s moving story.
